In the Chester Chronicle, it was reported that Brutus the Morrisons Cat who passed away in January would be immortalized in bronze. The sweet brown tabby was a well-known part of the Saltney grocery store. He could often be found hanging out on benches, in flower pots, and on shelves.

When Brutus passed away from kidney disease, the community wanted to do something to keep his spirit alive. A crowdfunding source was set up, and donations totaled nearly £5,000! The money was used to forge a bronze statue of the kitty’s likeness, and the leftover funds were donated to a local shelter.

On the Brutus “The Morrisons Cat” Facebook page for fans of the feline, a recent post states that the statue has been installed on a tall shelf between a couple of windows facing the parking lot. Although people are thrilled to have Brutus’ presence back in the store, several shoppers have remarked that they wish the statue was lower. The owner of the fan page writes that they will speak to the store owners to see if the statue could be moved down so people can pet its head, as was originally intended.
