Burger King Releases an Anti-Bullying PSA Featuring a ‘Bullied’ Whopper
Burger King released a PSA earlier this month, and the video is going viral. As WFAA explains, “Burger King released this anti-bullying PSA to help promote the Whopper Jr., and it’s surprisingly moving and effective.” In the three-minute clip, the fast food company highlights how people will take a stand when their burger has been “bullied” (in other words, smashed), but will most likely not do anything if they see real bullying taking place right in front of them.
The video currently has around 2.5 million views on YouTube alone, and many viewers are really connecting with the PSA’s message. “Oh my gosh, I cried. I was bullied, and no one did anything. I make sure no one else goes through that when I see it. And I make it a teaching moment for the bullies, like that woman did. Shame on those people who said or did nothing,” Barbara Abrams Buscemi commented on the 12 News Facebook page.
Over on Burger King’s YouTube page, commenters felt like they got a little sidetracked. “I love the message here, but I feel a little guilty about how much the Whopper Jr being bullied made me laugh,” Cusman wrote while others admitted that they found themselves interested in how only 95 percent of people complained that their burger was visibly punched.
