Calling All Dancers: ‘Samantha Brown’s Places to Love’ Filming at Gruene Hall

World traveler and former Travel Channel host is bringing her new PBS series “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love,” to New Braunfels’ gem of a dance hall, Gruene Hall. It is expected to film an episode on April 6, 2017. According to the hall’s website, Hot Club of Cowtown will perform and, according to KHOU, dancers are needed for the filming taking place for a national audience.

Travel guru and destination host extraordinaire, Samantha Brown, hails Texas roots as she was born in Dallas, Texas. Over the years she has become a well know jet setter taking her audience on adventure after adventure through a decade of series such as “Great Hotels, Girl Meets Hawaii, Passport to Europe, Passport to Latin America, Green Getaways, Passport to China, Great Weekends and Samantha Brown’s Asia,” shares her website. In an interview with the San Antonio Business Journal, they had this to share on why Gruene Hall, “‘I’m not sure how she chose the Texas Hill Country. But she was very impressed,’ said Mary Jane Nalley, one of the hall’s owners.”

Not only is this another film opportunity putting New Braunfels’ famous landmark on the map again but it’s giving the public the chance to show off their dancing skills to all America. To top it off the “country meets jazz and chases the blues away” band as shared by their website, Hot Club of Cowtown out of Austin, TX, will delight the audience with their unique style of music during the taping. The band is on their 20th anniversary and has a dedicated cult following worldwide shares its website.

A definite date has not been set as to when the show will air but, according to Nalley, it’s part of the first filming for the series being shot. Not only have some of the most beloved artists of our time played on the historic Gruene Hall stage, but a few movies have also put the dance hall on the map like the motion picture “Michael” with John Travolta as it was used as a set for the movie according to Wikipedia.
