Doug Beck, Events Coordinator for the Ferrari Club of San Antonio, stated, “It doesn’t matter if you’re a Ferrari or Shelby enthusiast, we all know the epic story that set the stage for one of the fiercest battles in racing history.” He went on to note that gathering the regional Texas Ferrari Club of America and Team Shelby members for the film and a scenic drive promised to be an exciting time.
Students from the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program at Northeast Texas Community College are bringing their Shelby GT350-R to the event. Club members of both groups will also bring their favorite fast cars.
“Members of both Team Shelby and the Ferrari club will gladly relate how fortunate they feel to own one of these special vehicles and be able to drive them to some very special events like the one we are planning in Austin,” stated Austin Maness, Team Shelby Southern Plains Regional Director. He noted that Team Shelby felt a need to share those blessings with the less fortunate. Typically, they do this via charitable organizations, such as the Carroll Shelby Foundation and The Ferrari Kid. In 2019, they’re putting a friendly rivalry to good use and raising funds for two great charities that help kids “in the race for life.”
There will only be a limited number of tickets for the party and film screening. For more info about the Ford v Ferrari Celebration in the Hill Country, visit exoticdriveclub.com.
