Police Chase an SUV Dumping Thousands in Cash From Its Windows
We’ve all been told that money doesn’t grow on trees or fall down from the sky, but apparently it does sometimes fly out of SUVs during a high-speed chase. Last Saturday, police chased a vehicle through Polk and Liberty counties in Tennessee that dispersed around $50,000 cash.
Five men in their mid-20s from Tennessee were in the SUV that eventually began tossing out cash. The chase began in Polk County where police attempted to stop the car with spike strips.
The punctured tires didn’t stop the SUV in Polk nor in Liberty County where the chase continued until 5 a.m. MySA quotes a news release as saying, “The vehicle continued the attempted high-speed escape on rims.”
Once they were caught, the men claim they were on their way to take a vacation in South Texas. They didn’t give any information as to why they were evading the police and throwing away cash. MySA says that the men “had to be reminded that spring break happened months ago.”
It might come as no surprise that the men all have extensive criminal records, and the group is now booked at the Liberty County jail. As for the fate of the cash, police have retrieved $48,000, but the rest might still be blowing in the wind.
