You’ve Heard of Cat Cafes, But What About a Raccoon Cafe?
A couple of years ago, YouTuber Megan Bowen uploaded a video of her trip to Blind Alley, a café in Seoul, South Korea referred to as a “raccoon café.” Like a cat café, this one-of-a-kind raccoon café holds a few (somewhat) tame raccoons that visitors can feed, take photos with, and allow to climb all over their heads.
Insider recorded a video, as well, that takes viewers inside of Blind Alley. It shows that each customer orders their café items outside of the raccoon room for which they must get a sticker to visit. The café is also home to a capybara – the world’s largest rodent (who’s actually quite cute!)
The three raccoons named Shot, Crema, and Kong were adopted from a “breeder and fur importer,” so they were each hand-raised and are not suited for the wild. The capybara was saved from an out-of-business zoo.
But not everyone enjoys Blind Alley as much as the calmer cat cafes. YouTuber Mikey Chen and NPR uploaded clips of when they visited the raccoons, and they felt a little afraid of the excitable and less than cuddly creatures. See their hilarious reactions at the end of their videos here (around 1:40 in) and here (around 2:25).
