The October chill may not have arrived yet, but the season of candy and dress up can still be celebrated! Across the Texas Hill Country, neighbors and organizations are figuring out new ways to have a Halloween that’s safe and fun. Three zoos in the area are hosting events sure to scare up a good time!

Celebrate Halloween Animal-Style! Texas Zoos Host Halloween

Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo – 5640 IH 35 S, New Braunfels, TX 78132
Located just outside of New Braunfels, the Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo will be hosting their 5th annual Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza on October 24th and 25th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kids aged 12 & under, wearing a costume, get in free. Activities will include trick-or-treat stations throughout the facility, a kid-friendly hay maze, animal-themed enrichment, fall-flavored treats, interactive shows, and fantastic photos op. Costume contests will be held for prizes too!

San Antonio Zoo – 3903 N Saint Marys St, San Antonio, TX
The Zoo Boo! now includes a Drive Thru Zoo Boo! option. This non-scary Halloween event can be enjoyed by the whole family. Held daily from mid-September through October 31st, the San Antonio zoo is decorated to the nines with Halloween excitement, plus trick-or-treat stations, pumpkin painting, dance parties, and a hay maze. Daily costume contests winners get a zoo prize pack; children and adults in non-scary, family-friendly costumes are encouraged, but costume masks are only permitted for children under the age of 12. Admittance to Zoo Boo! is included with zoo standard admission and is free for annual pass holders and Monthly Members. The Drive Thru Zoo Boo! features trick-or-treat stations that are accessible from your vehicle from 5 to 7 p.m.

Capital of Texas Zoo – 376 A Jenkins Rd, Cedar Creek, TX 78612
Near Austin, another Zoo Boo is happening October 23rd & 24th, and 30th & 31st. Kids aged 1-11 enjoy free admission and candy from 5 to 8 p.m. A special otter show has been choreographed for this year’s event: Hairy Otter in The Spooky Kooky Forest, a fun satire for all. Attendees will also find a pumpkin patch, a cakewalk, cotton candy, and prizes. For the adults, a craft beer and cocktail station is also planned.
