KXAN reports that We Are Blood (formally known as the Blood Center of Central Texas) says they received a lower amount of donations than expected this holiday season, so the blood supply is now “dangerously low.” This is particularly true of O negative and O positive blood types.

According to the We Are Blood website, donations in Central Texas don’t stray far from the donation site. “We Are Blood saves lives at over 40 medical facilities in our 10-county region. If you or a loved one need blood products at a local medical facility, you will be covered thanks to the We Are Blood family of donors,” their website explains. It takes about 200 donations a day to keep up with the demand of blood needed in Central Texas. (About 60 percent of daily donations come from a blood drive.)

If you’re interested in donating, you can make an appointment online by clicking here and finding a donation center or blood drive near you. It only takes about 45 minutes to an hour to donate blood, and you’ll be treated to snacks and beverages after a job well done. To make sure that you’re eligible to give blood, read through the information here.
