Choir Sings Impromptu Song as Soldier’s Remains Carried Off Plane
On July 20, Diane Hollifield Cupp was traveling from Germany to Houston by plane. After landing, the pilot announced that the remains of a WWII soldier would be carried off the aircraft before other passengers could deplane. While the remains were escorted off, a choir of young people on the plane began singing the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Their voices filled the cabin with a goosebump-worthy performance. Cupp managed to get the performance on video.
KCCI reports that Cupp stated, “So proud to be an American and so proud of these young people, who honored this soldier the way that they did.”
A member of the group called the Iowa Ambassadors of Music choir commented on Cupp’s post saying that they were happy that their singing was impactful. Their choir director, Luke Nelson, can be seen conducting the group at the front of the cabin in the video.
Cupp’s video has reached over 435,000 views and caused many misty eyes. You can watch it here.
