Brownwood celebrates Christmas in grand style, with spectacular parades and festivals happening all around downtown’s Depot Plaza from December 5-7. The Lighted Christmas Parade, sponsored by Texas Rock Crusher Railway, kicks off the celebration at 6:30 p.m. on December 5. The colorful parade features creatively decorated floats and vehicles, classic cars, horses, marching bands, music, and even Santa Claus!
Jolly old Santa himself returns to help Celebrate Christmas at the 11th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7. The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce presents the two-day festival that features holiday games and crafts, Big Wheel races, and other activities for kids of all ages. The fun takes place December 6-7, from 4-8 p.m. at the Depot Complex and Lehnis Railroad. The races are sponsored by Matthew Williams-State Farm, Sonic Drive-in, and Smile Doctors Braces. Big Wheel carts are ready and waiting for kid or adult contestants!

Many of your favorite downtown Brownwood establishments are offering great prices on their products and services during the two-day festival. Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce also hosts their annual “Treats for Santa Bake-off” competition on December 7. We all know Santa likes his treats, and area bakers enjoy showing off their skills, so this is the perfect Christmas combo! Judges are expecting to sample a delicious assortment of baked goods like cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, and other goodies Saturday afternoon. May the best cook win!
Sipping Under the Stars is a brand new Brownwood holiday event, that’s sure to become a favorite, and this beer and wine festival happens on Saturday Decemeber 7. Tasting tickets for the event are $20 per person, and include 10 tasting tickets, a commemorative wine glass, wine tote bag, map of participating merchants, and exclusive offers from downtown merchants. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. Saturday at Brownwood Music, 201 W Baker Street. Parking is available in the Landmark Life Building Parking Lot. Don’t miss your chance to get a taste of this festive fun!

CJ’s Cigar Lounge is giving away 20 cigars throughout the night at their wildly popular Baker Street establishment. Wine booths from Spirit of Texas Winery, Rancho Loma Vineyards, Cockrell Vineyards, Blue Duck Winery, and Lucky Vines Vineyard and Winery are set up inside downtown merchant buildings. Each winery will have their signature wines for sale by the glass or bottle.

Enjoy tastings, purchase by the glass or flight selections from The Turtle Enoteca, which promises to pour a 2 oz tasting of a pineapple Moscato wine from Belbo, Italy. Then stop for a sip or two at Teddy’s Brewhaus, Brownwood’s first Micro-brewery, which is housed in the old, historic Weakley-Watson Building at 102 Fisk Street. Pioneer Tap House is another must-visit location on any tour of Brownwood. Both establishments offer special tastings, purchase by the glass, or flight selections in a fun, lively environment.
