Christmas-Themed Pop-Up Bar Opens Up in Downtown Austin
When Austinites think of Christmas-themed bars the famous dive Lala’s immediately comes to mind. Lala’s has their Christmas lights shining and tree up every day, but this year, there’s another Christmas-themed bar thrown into the mix for the month of December – Miracle on 5th Street.
Eater Austin writes that next door to the Roosevelt Room in downtown Austin, an event space has been transformed into a temporary bar with holiday-themed cocktails. These “Miracle” bars have 50 locations in different cities all over the world, and each feature lights galore, tasty drinks, holiday music, and even custom glassware.
The cocktail list has festive favorites like the Fa La La La La, La La La La , which is made of “…gin, aquavit, hazelnut liqueur, cardamom, vanilla, lemon, egg white, club soda,” and as a callback to “A Christmas Story,” the You’ll Shoot Your Rye Out has “…pumpkin-spiced rye whiskey, Budweiser, marshmallow syrup, egg.”
But Austin 360 warns that if you want to take part in the Miracle on 5th Street, be prepared for a crowd. Even on a Monday night, the bar was packed, and sometimes, this space is rented out for a private event. Check the calendar here to see when you can visit.
