Closures on I-45 Will Leave Many Houstonians With a Headache

Houstonians know a thing or two about traffic, but that doesn’t mean it gets any easier to sit in. Unfortunately, Chron.com reports that anyone traveling from down south on I-45 (Clear Lake, Friendswood, League City, Galveston areas) to the downtown core will have to endure major road closures.

On Halloween, Chron.com wrote, “Three of four main lanes through downtown Houston will close this weekend, beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, and the closure will continue through next week, effecting rush hour traffic…On Monday, Nov. 6, one additional lane of traffic will open. On Thursday, Nov. 9, a third lane will open, and the three-lane configuration will continue until Dec. 1.”

Anyone who travels north to Houston on I-45 will need to plan for extra traffic. They will also need to see if their appropriate exits will be open, or if they’ll need to anticipate a busy detour. To keep up to date with road closures, check out the Houston TransStar website. They provide an extensive list of which exits and lanes will remain closed on I-45 including detour routes and interactive maps.

Perhaps it’s a stretch to be so optimistic, but those living in the Houston area have plenty to celebrate today with the Astros winning the World Series, so maybe sitting on I-45 will give everyone time to reflect on the amazing rise of the Astros…or it’s always a great time to catch up on an audiobook!
