Widely considered to be one of the coolest places to visit on a hot Texas Hill Country day, Concan is the place to go when you want tubing, camping (or hoteling if you prefer), fishing, golfing, and listening to some good local live music! In truth, there isn’t much that’s lacking here if you’re looking for a recipe for the perfect summer getaway. And if you’re planning a trip to the Frio this summer, be sure to add these must-see Concan stops to your list!

Josh’s Frio River Outfitter is a convenient place to pick up all things river-related, including colorful tubes and kayaks, rentals for both, shuttles where needed, and even such a thing as a “cooler tube” (now who in Texas would even need such a thing?!) Buy a t-shirt, stock up on supplies, and catch a ride to the river where you can float your cares away!

Not sure if you picked up everything you need for everybody to have that truly great Texas Hill Country time? Clothing, sunglasses (and the all-important sunblock), souvenirs and even jewelry can be had at Frio’s Dry Fifty. In Concan, they have all your floating necessities and frivolities, right down to can cozies if you’re lucky (but again, who needs that in Texas?!) If you’re hungry, grab a bite at their Snack Shack and cool your heels (and your lips) with Real Hawaiian shaved ice and Blue Bell ice cream at its best.

If you consider yourself to be more the “adult” in your group, and you feel floating down the Frio River isn’t as much your bag as a round of good golf is, then you’ll want to leave the party crowd to their fun while you go have your own at the Golf Club of Texas Concan. Enjoy the greens, the birdies, the holes-in-one (surrrreeee, *wink, *wink) and completely avoiding water and sand traps and any of the roughs while you sip your worries away at their full bar, game room, and Patio Grille. After handily managing their 18-hole public course, you can rest up on their covered patio prior to heading back to the Frio to pick up the rabble-rousers! Enjoy Concan and all it has to offer right here in the Texas Hill Country.
