Featuring a multitude of museums, the “Sparkling City by the Sea” is truly a Texas-must-see. The sights, sounds, and experiences to be had consist of far more than a stroll along the Gulf Coast. Its name meaning “Body of Christ” in Latin, the Port of Corpus Christi is the fifth largest in America, and as a city, it’s the eighth largest in the Lone Star State, but neither of these statistics can prepare you for the wealth of culture and history this seaside stronghold of Texas development truly holds.

The U.S.S. Lexington Museum on Corpus Christi Bay is an Essex-Class aircraft carrier museum nicknamed the “Blue Ghost.” Built for the U.S. Navy during World War II, the “Lex” was a significant component in American defense systems for close to 50 years. Due to Corpus Christi’s longstanding and proud Navy and naval aviation history, the city’s Economic Development Commission developed a task force to bring the “Blue Ghost” to the city. Now visitors to the area can marvel at her presence and learn from her experience.
