Dad Wears Tie His Son Made Him in First Grade to His High School Graduation
“I made this tie for my dad when I was in first grade. 11 years later he wears it to my graduation :’)” Austin resident Dylan Olivo tweeted. The high school senior was pleased to see his proud father sporting a Pokémon-themed tie that Dylan made when he was only 7-years-old.
“He wore the tie to show he had it and to reflect that I am officially a high school graduate and not the child I was when I made the tie,” Dylan told Buzzfeed. But it looks like Dylan has kept the same focus he had when he was a kid. The tie is well-drawn and took a lot of patience for a first-grader, and now, Dylan’s seen wearing several medals and academic cords for his achievements in high school. His Pikachu-tie wearing dad is absolutely beaming in the photograph next to his son.
As Bored Panda points out, the tweet went viral after people latched onto the sweet sentiment of a father keeping a silly tie for so long to wear it again on such a special day. @ItsElenaV replied to Dylan, “Your dad is the absolute best. Cherish this moment forever.” And Nick Lambordo wrote on Buzzfeed, “Thank God for stories like this. In today’s messed up and hateful world, it’s really a treat to see them.”
