This February when the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo parade makes its way through downtown Houston, well-known news anchor Dave Ward will serve as grand marshal. This will be a special occasion for Ward who Click2Houston.com says has covered this very parade 49 times! Ward has spent 50 years as an anchor with ABC 13 after starting off as a reporter in 1966. He even holds the world record for “the longest-running television news broadcaster in a major market.” He retired in May last year.

Chron.com quotes Joel Cowley, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo president and CEO, as saying, “We are excited to have Houston’s own Dave Ward serve as the grand marshal of the 2018 Downtown Rodeo Parade. Dave has been a fixture in the homes of our community for the last five decades and we are truly looking forward to having him help kick off the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo in February.”

If you’re interested in seeing the parade for yourself this year, check out Rodeo Houston’s information about the event here. It will start at 10 a.m. on February 24th, and you’ll want to get there with plenty of time to spare to avoid road closures and secure a good spot to cheer on grand marshal Dave Ward!
