San Antonio has evolved greatly over the past decade. Some of the most notable expansions are the improvements along the River Walk. Now, a $300 million project from the Aqualand Development of San Marcos and CBL & Associates Properties of Chattanooga, Tennessee plans to bring a mixed-use project near the Pearl.

This development will include a reworking of the Lone Star Brewery. Those who love the silos and rough look of the old brewery shouldn’t worry, much of the interesting architectural elements will be repurposed.

As My SA reports, the project “will have more of an entertainment focus than the Pearl, with more outdoor space and a cultural connection to the Southtown community… It will likely include a food hall, a movie theater and a bowling alley with a restaurant and bar. The retail will be a mix of local, regional and national brands.”

The development will be built in phases. They’re also planning for a scenic pond area along with creative office spaces. Additional developters will be brought in to design a potential hotel and a residential area.
