‘Dine and Dash Dater’ Strikes Again Using Dating App Bumble
When preparing for a blind date, most people are worried about whether or not they’ll have a connection or if their date will even show up. Worrying about their date dining and dashing usually doesn’t make the shortlist of concerns, but one man (using the app Bumble) has made running out on the bill and his date a signature move.
The disrespectful dater was called out by a woman in California who prefers to be kept anonymous. ABC 13 writes that she met up with 44-year-old Paul Gonzales (who also called himself Dave Gonzales.) After quickly eating his expensive meal, he got up claiming he had to take a phone call, and he never returned. “I was shocked that anybody would do this. And I even texted him, ‘Is everything OK?’ And obviously he never responded,” the woman told the news.
Gonzales has dined and dashed on dates before and has been caught leaving a salon without paying for a haircut, as well. He also “has two bench warrants out for his arrest after not showing up to court for petty theft and driving without a valid license. Records show he’s already been to jail several times for misdemeanor arrests.”
The dating app Bumble responded once they found out about the rude criminal using their service. They asked any of their users who went on a date with the man to send them a photo of the bill so they could cover his half. “Our goal is to protect wonderful people from the ridiculous behavior permissible in the dating world,” they wrote on Instagram.
