Disney Brings $100M Worth of Magic to Texas Children’s Hospital

Disney is bringing is a little magic from its kingdom to spread some joy among the patients at Texas Children’s Hospital. This Houston, Texas hospital will be the first to work with Disney in an innovative new approach to enriching the experience of a hospital stay by providing “…an array of distinctly ‘Disney’ elements into children’s hospitals.”

“Robert A. Iger, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company, announced an innovative plan to dedicate more than $100 million in company resources, including cash, products, and services, to reinvent the patient and family experience in children’s hospitals across the globe,” shared Texas Children’s Hospital press release. According to its website, Texas Children’s Hospital is recognized as a leader in pediatric health and considered the largest children’s hospital in the United States. This new partnership will add invaluable insight in its collaboration with Disney and other new experiences, stated its press release. “We are honored to be the inaugural hospital to collaborate with Disney on this exciting patient-focused initiative,” said Mark A. Wallace, President, and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital. “Patient care is at the center of our mission.”

Disney will work with a panel of experts including doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, medical experts, and parent and child life professionals from around the world to aid in bringing a more “…personalized and comforting experience for patients and families…” throughout their hospital stay.

This concept to reimagine the children’s hospital experience is part of their “…’Team of Heroes’ community outreach and philanthropy efforts,” shares its press release. “The Walt Disney Company is dedicated to delivering comfort, happiness, and inspiration for families around the world and recognizes it takes a team to make a significant impact.”

Some of the highlights you can expect to find will be intriguing elements such as “enchanted” artwork, and patients will be able to choose from among their favorite Disney characters and stories that will surround them during their stay, according to the press release. “Themed treatment and patient rooms featuring interactive murals of Disney stories, bed linens and gowns featuring each child’s favorite characters, and personalized in-room entertainment,” will also be an added feature.
