A young girl’s dog is being called a hero after saving her from a terrifying kidnapping attempt. An 11-year-old girl from Midland was visiting family in Pasadena, Texas (part of the Houston area), when she went on a walk Sunday morning. Accompanying the girl was her two-year-old beagle terrier named Ray.

According to local police, the pair were walking not far from Willow Oaks Circle when an alleged kidnapper grabbed the girl’s arm. The suspect attempted to pull her inside a dark gray SUV. As the man dragged the girl toward the vehicle, Ray came to his owner’s rescue. The dog bit the suspect’s leg, and the girl was able to break free and run for it with Ray following close on her heels. The suspect then got in his SUV and sped off.

The family was able to give police a surveillance video. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a receding hairline and a tattoo on his upper arm. Police are reported to have the license plate number of the vehicle, though the search for the suspect is ongoing at the time of this writing. If you have information which could help the police, contact Pasadena Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or online at this link.

Fortunately, thanks to one adorable four-legged hero, this scary story has a happy ending.
