Only a month shy from turning one year old, Daisy the lab mix went missing after she and her owners were in an awful car wreck in Plano on Friday. The couple who owns Daisy were rendered unconscious and suffered injuries after an 18-wheeler rammed into the back of their car. Since they were too hurt to search for their beloved dog who ran away frightened from the scene, volunteers took action. And as CBS DFW reports, on Sunday, Daisy was found!

“Thanks to everyone in the community for sharing & searching. Daisy has made her way home this morning,” the City of Plano tweeted. Though this lost dog’s story is still a triumphant one, Mutts & Mayhem Animal Rescue clarified on Monday in a Facebook post that she isn’t home just yet.

“X-Rays confirmed yesterday that Daisy has a severe compound fracture to her left femur bone but her pelvis wasn’t broken. Her femur was shattered in 5 places which will require surgery…Daisy has an infection and is receiving IV antibiotics in addition to pain medications. By some miracle, she didn’t suffer internal injuries,” they wrote. Daisy will rest and heal up in the animal hospital before she goes back home.
