Texas Legend Doug Sahm Performs ‘She’s About a Mover’ in Rare ACL Clip
There aren’t many Texas legends that compare to Doug Sahm.
The San Antonio-born singer was one of America’s best responses to the British rock and roll invasion of the 60’s. Sahm founded the Sir Douglas Quintet in the 1960s and created a unique blend of rock and roll, R&B, Tejano, and country music that left an indelible mark on not only Texas music, but also American rock and roll and country music. His music has been tremendously influential on Texas musicians throughout the years.
In the clip below, you can watch Sahm perform his most notable hit, “She’s About a Mover,” on an early episode of Austin City Limits. The song is a near-perfect blend of American musical styles. It has been covered by several artists, and was so influential that Texas Monthly once named it the No. 1 Texas song of all time. That’s quite an honor, considering how many notable Texas songs have been released.
