With unclear origins, but a great variation on the Long Island Iced Tea, and an equally great name, Texas Tea is actually a cocktail recipe as opposed to the slang term we know it to be, in reference to oil. Making it with Texas-made tequila and whiskey only stands to reason, and definitely will produce a drink with rich flavor of exceptional quality.

If you’re looking for the perfect recipe, there are a number of great online options to pick and choose from. Some are featured on The Spruce, Drinks Mixer, and 1001Cocktails, all of which provide minimal variations on the drink, and the same great kick that comes with a sip of this creation.

Using any one of the many great Texas brands of tequila or whiskey, you too can create this state-named beverage with a bite, and kick back in your lawn chair for what’s left of the summer, pondering the many other great things that are also Texas-made. Texas Tea may even quite possibly become your signature drink, as you wow your neighbors and friends with the ability to concoct such a beverage with potency enough to require three people to drink it: two to toast to good health, and one to drive both of them home afterward!
