Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 14, 2019, for the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event taking place in Texas, as it is nationwide, in support of thousands of pets who are in need of loving homes.

Seven Texas animal shelters will be participants, among the 117 shelters across the U.S. All of the Texas locations can be found on the map provided by the BISSELL Pet Foundation at the link available here. The Empty the Shelters campaign aims to bring holiday hope to homeless pets through this Holiday Hope event. In the Texas Hill Country, Texas Humane Heroes in Leander will be participating. However, there are also shelters from Houston to Corpus Christi and beyond that are getting together to reduce their adoption fees in these efforts.

In order to try to find permanent loving homes for thousands of pets, the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event allows for the adoption of a pet, which will be microchipped and spayed/neutered, for a reduced fee ($25 or less.) “To permanently end the homeless pet problem, everyone across the country needs to understand that there are beautiful, worthy animals in shelters who should be the first choice when bringing a pet into your home,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of the BISSELL Pet Foundation. “You will get the most loving pet who will literally change your life because it’s so grateful to be loved. I want every person to know they can be part of the solution if they adopt a shelter pet.”

Many of these participating shelters will require a preapproval process for those wishing to adopt. This may include an in-person visit. Those who are interested in adopting a pet or pets are encouraged to become preapproved at their participating shelter in advance of the Empty the Shelters event. This event has helped to find homes for close to 27K pets since its 2016 inception.
