Magnolia, Texas, has a name that evokes images of spring and summer idealism. And Family Tree Recipes Cafe is the restaurant set in the trees (or rather, the trees are set in it…) that accentuates that. Situated in a grove surrounded by lush forest you’ll find an eatery designed around the trunks of trees, where guests can get a delicious meal in an atmosphere that’s akin to that of a fairy tale. The Hillbilly Hilton (a mobile home welcoming visitors at the entrance to the property) marks the place where this awe-inspiring and impressive dining room is located.

Family Tree Recipes Cafe is a Charming Treetop Restaurant

The cafe is family owned and operated, and its location (on FM 1488 in Magnolia) features a winding stone walkway to its charming setting. There, you’ll find something that looks like it was pulled straight from a children’s story. Tree trunks can be found in the Family Tree Recipes Cafe, running straight through the dining room. We’re fairly certain almost every child has either imagined their treehouse or planned it. And, as adults, we tend to put those daydreams aside for realities anchored more in what modern buildings and homes tend to look like. Well, we might not be able to live and work in trees, as we hoped, but at the very least, we can eat in and amongst them. And the café has definitely made that happen. The transformation of this cozy cottage in the trees to a totally cool culinary forest café is for everyone. The place is perfect for couples, families, and special gatherings.

Furnished with a chalk menu board and cups hanging from the rafters of its awning, it’s a great place to sit and digest a scrumptious meal. Although everything else seems to be like a fairy tale, their fantastic menu is well-based in reality. They ensure their meals are just as satisfying as if you ate in a high-end (as opposed to high in a treehouse) establishment. Their breakfast menu comes with loaded omelets, smaller offerings in addition to French toast and waffles, traditional breakfasts, and all the fixings—plus a soul-quenching coffee to start the day off right. Lunch has some equally hardy selections, including great burgers, satisfying sandwiches, and creative sides. There are also some fun foods for kids, although the experience alone makes it well worth the trip. If you’re looking to make a visit, the Family Tree Recipes Cafe is located at 12202 FM 1488, in Magnolia. They’re open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more details or to book ahead, visit the café website or check them out on Facebook.
