Filming for “The Walking Dead” spin-off show “Fear the Walking Dead” will have zombies stumbling down Austin streets. CBS Austin writes that in the Shady Cedar Drive and Onion Creek Drive area (near the crossing of Pleasant Valley and William Cannon) crews will start filming on November 29.

The Statesman writes that fans of the show already figured out that “Fear the Walking Dead” was filming close by in Round Rock when they saw a dystopian set around Dell Diamond. Director of the Austin Film Commission Brian Gannon is thrilled that the show will keep their production in the area. “We’re grateful AMC moved the production in the Austin area. What’s great about TV series is it keeps our crew employed for long periods of time. We want productions in town generating money for the local economy and not moving to Atlanta or Kentucky,” he told the news.

Austin CultureMap explains, “The events of FTWD’s most recent third season are concurrent with those of TWD’s first season, though the storylines are as yet unrelated,” and recently, it was revealed that a character from “The Walking Dead” would appear on “Fear the Walking Dead.” The big reveal was broadcast from in front of the Texas State Capitol with actor Lennie James stating that his character, Morgan Jones, would bridge the gap between the two series. Afterwards, James told the Statesman that he looks forward to discovering Austin’s charms since he no longer has to hide in his hotel room. “I can finally get out and see Austin and eat some of its fantastic food,” he said.
