Festival of Lights Returns to Moody Gardens for Christmas Magic

Festival of Lights opens the traditional holiday season at Moody Gardens in Galveston for its 19th year, starting Nov. 21. Guests can enjoy festive lights, music, food, and a spacious outdoor setting. It’s the ideal venue for families to make memories that will last a lifetime.

The Festival of Lights features a one-mile trail with two million lights, filled with sound enhanced lighted and animated displays themed to their favorite holiday music. The festival is open Nov. 21 through Jan. 2, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Nutcrackers, a toy factory, 12 Days of Christmas display, and a narrated nativity scene (with plenty of animals) are all popular exhibits. Star: The Dancing Tree of Light, a four-story digital Christmas tree, is a must-see exhibit.

“This year is different and we have made the necessary modifications to allow our guests to relax and have a safe and enjoyable experience,” said John Zendt, Moody Gardens President and CEO. “It has been a long and challenging year and we are so pleased to be able to provide a venue for families to celebrate the season together responsibly.”

Other holiday attractions include Rudolph 4D, 3D films, an Arctic Slide, and train rides, plus fireside s’mores and great food. Hotel packages and group pricing are also available.

Value Days

Guests looking for bargains and fewer visitors can take advantage of Value Days every Sunday through Thursday, Nov. 29-Dec. 17. A Holiday Pass includes admission to the Festival of Lights as well as a 3D and 4D movie and the Arctic Slide. Holiday Passes are only $20 on a Value Day, and $30 regularly.

The Festival of Lights and other holiday attractions open at 6 p.m. nightly. The attractions close at 9 p.m. on Value Days, and at 10 p.m. on all other days. Moody Gardens’ regular attractions open at 10 a.m. daily.
