Before Fiddlin’ Carson Peters was even three years old, he had taught himself to play the ukulele. But when he turned four, the little guy from East Tennessee caught fire with his rendition of “Whiskey Before Breakfast,” an amazing feat for such a talented child.

Since then he’s gone on to play on such coveted stages at the Grand Ole Opry, but it’s fun to think about when he started.

The self-taught fiddle master was already an expert at the instrument and entering competition before he hit five, and Laurel Bloomery Old Time Fiddlers Convention was happy to have him on stage as one of their performers.

What happened next was unbelievable.

The little man got on stage and just absolutely blew the crowd away, including the other people on stage, when he began his fiddlin’.

But you have to see it to believe it. Watch Carson Peters perform “Whiskey Before Breakfast.”
