Austin is known for their numerous festivals, and one of the city’s most anticipated annual events is coming up soon. The odd film festival, Fantastic Fest, runs from September 21–28, 2017, at the Alamo Drafthouse’s South Lamar location.

Recently, the Austin Chronicle stated that the second wave of the film lineup was released. They write that the roster now includes, “closing night film Downsizing, some major animation events, a plethora of restorations, the true story behind Wonder Woman, and an international smorgasbord of wild and crazy cinema.”

And Austinites will be excited to see that the second installment of “World of Tomorrow” will debut. The film is by local artist Don Hertzfeldt who was nominated for an Academy Award last year for his incredible short animated film.

The lengthy list of movies that will debut at the festival can be seen here and here.

According to the Fantastic Fest website, badges are needed to get the most out of the festival. Unfortunately, if you didn’t already snag one, it’s not in the cards for you this year. Badges are sold out, but those who want to catch a film or two can check the “Tickets” page to buy individual passes if badge holders haven’t already scooped them all up. This applies to film showings from Thursday, September 22 through Thursday, September 29, 2017.
