Flyrite Chicken Set to Launch Drive-Thru in Austin
Is there ever a bad time to have fried chicken? Not so, says Kevin Warden, owner of Austin’s new Flyrite Chicken.
Warden hopes to shake up the drive-thru business, telling Eater Austin recently he intends to “disrupt what people expect from a normal drive-thru” by offering an almost unprecedented style of fried chicken that he considers “clean, natural, mindfully-sourced food.”
This means you’ll be able to devour a made-to-order fried chicken sandwiches with no antibiotics, MSG, artificial ingredients or added hormones. The menu boasts The Standard, a fried chicken sandwich on a toasted whole wheat bun with homemade pickles, and apart from that you can get it either spicy or change it up a bit and grab it grilled. Beer and sparkling wine will also be available for refreshments.
Pretty simple.
Currently two locations are planned, one in East Austin on 2129 E 7th St., and the other at 6539 Burnet Rd., which aims to serve North Austin customers. The East Austin location was scheduled to open this month, but it looks like now fried chicken connoisseurs will have to wait until early February to start lickin’ their fingers.
