Forgotten Dog Loses 35-Pounds of Hair and Gains a New Life
Lazarus the Pyrenees pup lived in a barn where he was neglected by his ill owners. After his rescue, he had 35 pounds of matted fur cut off from his body. Now, he looks like a completely different dog!

His new protector is dog rescuer Amanda Brooke Charsha-Lindsey. She’s been posting on her Facebook page about the pup’s journey while she guides him into a much healthier future. Like she said in her initial Facebook post, “Laz, we have just started buddy.”
Charsha-Lindsey hasn’t forced Lazarus into spending time in her house since he doesn’t seem comfortable indoors yet. Instead, she has provided him with shelter options that he’s happy with like a nice garage and crate. She’s making a point to not rush the traumatized pup into adoption. Right now, she’s watching his personality emerge and seeing how quickly he can learn to function in the world again.
His coat will start growing back soon, but it will need to be diligently brushed and groomed to make sure it never looks anything like the matted mess it once was. Lazarus must feel so much better after getting rid of all of that fur in the heat of the summer!
