Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo: An Inside Look at the Oldest Stock Show in Texas

Brian Maki, Regional Field Manager for Chevrolet’s South Central Region spoke with us for a bit about their involvement in the rodeo and the different truck models out on display. He discusses how they have developed trucks to meet the needs of the community, from the mid-sized Colorado to the biggest, badest Silverado on the market. The truck that caught our eye was the Realtree Chevy Silverado. Created for the outdoor enthusiast, this truck catches your eye and is loaded with “special details, special lighting, [and] all kinds of neat accessories,” according to Maki. Of course, the 3/4 ton Silverado with a Duramax diesel engine is a showstopper in and of itself. The truck was made for hard work, and the High-Country trim is easy on the eyes.

Chevy was gracious enough to not only show us their amazing new trucks at the event but to allow us to test out a 2017 Chevy Suburban for ourselves. This baby was loaded with all the bells and whistles: keyless entry, push button start, a back hatch that opens and closes with the push of a button, vented leather seats with seat warmers, onboard wi-fi for up to seven devices, wireless phone charger, backup camera, automatic sunroof, enough charging ports to service a small nation…this vehicle is a beauty. There is a ton of legroom which includes second-row row captains seats and a super-huge third row, all of which fold down flat. The list goes on and on. However, it is obvious the Suburban wasn’t made for just comfort, this puppy can haul, too, up to 8300 lbs. with its 355 horsepower, 5.3L V-8 engine, and 4WD. And the 23 mpg highway mileage ain’t half bad, either.
