Even though Schlather died in 1993, his spirit is very much alive at Gruene Hall. In fact, it’s not uncommon to hear regulars mention his name or belly up to the bar and ask for Schlather’s signature beverage, “A Tranquilizer” (a Falstaff beer). Schlather was so beloved that every year on his birthday, Molak still celebrates Schlather’s birthday at the hall. So, join in the celebration on Friday, June 23 from noon until 2 p.m. with 50 cent beer and raise a glass to Gruene’s unofficial “Mayor” and local character.
