It has come to our attention that the Mayor of Fredericksburg, Linda Langerhans, has added a sound ordinance issue to the upcoming City Council meeting, which will be held on Monday, April 18.
According to local sources, the group “Keep Fredericksburg Quiet” will be speaking at the meeting, rallying the city to prevent loud, outdoor live music concerts from taking place in Fredericksburg.
This announcement made public on Bill Lewis’ Facebook certainly caused quite the outcry of many Texas Hill Country residents. Lewis and others are joining together to stop this sound ordinance from being imposed, and they have created a social media campaign against it.
However, other city representatives are stating something different.
A reporter in Fredericksburg said, “Mr. Lewis is somewhat correct, but mostly wrong. Our mayor is not banning live music. She (along with the rest of city council) is trying to lower the decibel level by 10 dBs; she’s not banning live music, she’s just lowering it. We currently allow higher dBs that San Marcos, New Braunfels, Bandera and a bunch of other towns in the area. What she’s trying to do is simply lower the volume a bit, it’s currently 85 dBs allowed and they want to lower it to 75, which is what most other towns in the area have.”
We will bring you more details as we get them.
