The multitude of entertainment possibilities during SXSW in Austin can make it hard to choose if one needs to, but thankfully there’s one clear choice for the Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake which is also free and open to the public during the festivities, and that’s the Dez Dickerson/Wyclef Jean/Micki Free collaboration honoring and performing Prince songs on Friday, March 17, 2017. Benefiting LUPE Arte, the tribute, as part of the SXSW schedule, features members of Prince’s epic band and will pay homage to the music and the singer for all of his contributions both on- and off-stage.

Friday’s tribute concert will also feature other special guests who are yet unnamed, joining the Revolution (Prince’s band) on stage to sing some of the artist’s most popular songs. Admission to the event is free, however, it requires an SXSW Guest Pass. These passes can be quickly obtained via email through this link, at which you create an instant account and the pass gets sent to you in advance of the show. The SXSW guest pass also allows access and entry into a number of selected film screenings, musical showcases, exhibits and other similar events.

Dez Dickerson, Prince’s long-time friend, original bassist, and musical collaborator, will be performing at Friday’s event together with Wyclef Jean (Grammy-winner and member of the Fugees), Andre Cymone (Grammy-winning artist and producer), and former Shalamar guitarist Micki Free, featuring classic Prince songs in this one-time-only, one of a kind event at the Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake. More special guests will be announced, but in the meantime, get your free guest passes now, as time for that will soon be coming to a close!
