Have you ever wondered if you just might be a Hill Country redneck? Well, let’s see. Do you have a rag for a gas cap? Do you have flowers planted in a bathroom appliance in your front yard? Have you spent more on your pickup truck than on your education? Does Santa Claus refuse to let your kids sit on his lap? Have you ever been to the infamous Summer Redneck Games? Well here’s your chance to test your redneck skills. Confirmed redneck or not, you’re guaranteed to have a blast as a participant or bystander in the 1st Annual Frio Canyon Redneck Games, July 29 & 30, in the Texas Hill Country.

Friday night, July 29, is the “Kick-Off” Dance featuring live music from “Gunpowder Soup” from 8 p.m. to midnight with benefits going to the Frio Canyon Chamber Scholarship Fund. This shindig will be held at the Frio Pecan Farm in Leakey, Texas with a cash bar and Panjo’s Pizza for your dinning and drinking delight.

Want to prove that you’re a redneck? It’ll cost you only $2 per event per person. Registration begins at 8 a.m.-9 a.m. the day of the events. Rules and information is online. There will be a Beergarden so no outside beer or wine allowed. Sponsored BBQ for $12 a plate begins at 6 p.m.

Not all games will be in the area with seating, so it might be a good idea to bring your lawn chairs. This event will be held rain or shine. So come on out for more fun than a tornado in a trailer park, just keep it between the ditches, and remember, if everything’s coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane. Let the games begin!
