Harris County Flood Control District Meteorologist Jeff Lindner delivered the bad news about Harvey to Houstonians throughout the storm. But his press conferences were incredibly informative and helpful to Texans, and he made an effort to answer every question he could. In order to reward his dedication to spreading knowledge and working hard hour-after-hour, day-after-day while Houston was inundated with water, KHOU reports that Houstonians decided they wanted to give back.

A GoFundMe page was created called “Let’s Buy Jeff Lindner a Vacation.” The goal of $4,000 was surpassed within days, and now the donations have reached a whopping $21,300!

KHOU points out that Lindner cannot accept the money since he’s a government employee, and he stated on the Harris County Flood Control District website that he has “just been doing my job and I really wanted to get out to the residents what I would want to hear if I were sitting on the other end.”

Lindner will be giving all of the money away to flood victims, but he spoke with the creator of the GoFundMe campaign to say that he greatly appreciates the sentiment and will take a vacation with his own funds as soon as he can.
