7-Foot Gator Suprises Texas Beachgoers

By  |

Flooding leads to creatures getting displaced from their usual homes, and that includes aquatic reptiles. At Surfside Beach in Brazoria County this Saturday, beach-goers felt surprised and unsettled to find a 7-foot-long gator approaching the shore.

Wildlife experts note that alligators prefer freshwater, but they have been seen outside of their normal locations recently. Only a few days prior, a gator showed up at Sylvan Beach.

An ABC 13 viewer sent in the photo of a man near the creature. We’re not sure what we’d do if we spotted an alligator trying to hang out at the beach, but it probably wouldn’t be waving a stick at it!
