It’s hard to believe that George Strait has been supplying country hits for 35 years now. Although he has an incredible catalog of music and amazing accomplishments behind him, he is still as strong of a performer as ever.

20 years ago, Strait released his single “I Can Still Make Cheyenne” from his 16th studio album, Blue Clear Sky. It’s a song that features all of the things we come to expect from a Strait song – great storytelling, wonderful country accompaniment and always on-point vocals.

Like most of his incredible cuts, the song takes on a whole new life when performed in a live setting. Strait is one of those rare performers who doesn’t need huge productions to make his show entertaining. For the most part, all of his live concerts just involve a relatively simple stage, Strait and a guitar.

In this performance clip from 2009, you can see exactly why thousands of fans are clamoring to get their hands on tickets for his residency at the Las Vegas Arena. Two decades after the track first hit the top of the charts, Strait makes the song feel as relevant and fresh as ever. Check out his show-stopping performance in the video below.
