The King of Country Music has become the first person to chart 100 songs on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. His latest release of “The Weight of the Badge” entered the chart this week (October 19, 2019), making George Strait the first artist to ever do so in history.

First published in 1990, the Billboard Country Airplay chart is a compilation of “the 60 most-listened-to records played on 150 mainstream country radio stations across the country as monitored by Nielsen BDS, weighted to each station’s Nielsen ratings.” By this decade, Strait was already considered a well-established country music superstar. He had top 10 hits ranking consistently, and since then, he’s continued to do so with the addition of 61 more, as well as 26 number ones.

Shared on the George Strait YouTube channel, the above video (audio only) for “The Weight of the Badge” has been listened to more than 1.5 million times since its release to the channel in March of this year. It comes from his latest album, entitled “Honky Tonk Time Machine.” The song was co-written by Strait together with his son Bubba and Dean Dillion. It’s designed as a tribute to those who wear the badge, the nation’s first responders.

In the meantime, Strait continues his residency in Las Vegas into 2020. He has new concerts scheduled for January 31 as well as February 1, at present, with more anticipated. Tickets and packages for these shows can be purchased at the link available here. In advance of that, he’s also booked for the new Dickies Arena, in Fort Worth, Texas, in November of this year, and tickets for the show on the 22 can be purchased at the link provided here. Due to his popularity, a second show was added to the roster for this venue, scheduled for November 23. Tickets for this show can be purchased here.
