The King of Country music doesn’t mince words in his songs or his message. The 64-year-old country super star has been a mainstay in the industry for 41 years by singing what his fans can relate to and appreciate and his latest release entitled ‘Kicked Outta Country’ is no exception. Exceptional is more like it. And how about to-the-point – a Strait shot, if you will.

The country music icon recently released his new song ‘Kicked Outta Country’ on his Strait Out of the Box, Part 2 compilation, taking aim at country music radio with a message that’s reverberated among the genre’s fans for some time now: “It don’t really matter, because I ain’t gonna change, ’Cause getting kicked outta country, won’t hurt a thing.”

Strait’s “Kicked Outta Country,” co-written with Jamey Johnson (similarly outspoken on the subject with his hit entitled “Between Jennings and Jones”) sends a message to the industry’s radio network that, despite its grass-roots fan base, continues to overlook the majority of what’s considered to be genuine country music artists in favor of fast-selling, pop-country flash-in-the-pans.

Echoing the battle cry of “Murder on Music Row”, the song recently debuted at Strait’s secret show held at Gruene Hall. One of 2 new recordings released by George Strait since his surprise “Cold Beer Conversations” album of 2016, Strait Out of the Box, Part 2 features “Kicked Outta Country” on its 3-disc compilation. In an exclusive arrangement, the box set began rolling off Walmart shelves on November 18, and with it, George continues his reign in traditional country music. Long live the King of Country!
