Lucky Las Vegas. It’s not enough they host the PBR finals each year. Now they get George Strait as well.
George Strait, the King of Country Music, will be returning to Las Vegas in 2017 for his “2 Nights of Number 1s” concert series. This announcement comes after his six sold out shows in Vegas during 2016.

George Strait announced these shows just before a surprise live streaming album release concert at Gruene Hall marking the release of his new box set, Strait Out of the Box: Part 2, which features material collected from the time he released his first Strait Out of the Box set in 1996 until now.
According to The Boot, George Strait didn’t have a hard time picking the songs for this new box set. “Going back through all the songs for this box set does bring back a lot of old memories,” Strait says in a press release. “A lot of them we considered for radio singles and for whatever reason, we just picked something else. It was not that hard to pick them after I looked through them because there are just so many that are my favorites.”
About his show at Gruene Hall and dance hall shows in general, Guide Live reported George had this to say. “They’re so important, especially for young singer-songwriters and bands who have just gotten together to come around and learn the trade,” Strait said. “I fed my family this way. I’d hate to think that they were to go away, that would be tragic.”
Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 is available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.

George Strait earned the title King of Country Music by selling more than 68.5 million records and counting. As far as platinum and multi-platinum albums go, Strait is surpassed only by Elvis Presley. When it comes to number one songs, with 60 under his belt, Strait beats them all – even Elvis.
King George is also the only artist in the history of music (all genres) to have recorded and released a top ten hit every year for three decades. Yes, one number one song a year for thirty years.
In 2014, George Strait said, “I’m not retiring, just not going on tour anymore.”
Looks like he meant it. The release of his newest album, Cold Beer Conversation, proves he still crooning his way into the hearts of country music fans everywhere.
The following iTunes review says it best. “This is the closest thing to sharing a sunset and cooler with the King of Country. Cold Beer Conversation speaks to the legend’s strengths—gorgeous, sepia-tone vignettes of Texas life, old-fashioned romance, and some barstool wisdom thrown in. His peerless storytelling shines on “Cheaper Than a Shrink” and “Goin’ Goin’ Gone,” his warm voice as comforting and commanding as ever. There’s a fun nod to western swing (“It Takes All Kinds”) and rock ‘n’ roll (“Rock Paper Scissors”); otherwise Cold Beer Conversation is vintage Strait—authentic Texas country with no chaser.”
