In a 1940s rock cottage on 24188 Boerne Stage Road, Leon Springs which neighbors San Antonio, resides The Point Parks & Eats. Opened in March 2012 by local entrepreneurs Denise Aguirre, Noel Cisneros, and Sarah Vargas, this craft beer and wine bar hosts myriad food trucks, which rotate weekly. Also onsite is a playscape for kids, North Shore Tiki Hut shaved ice, live music, and a range of community activities. Choose seating outside under covered areas or indoors in proximity to a giant television.
First, the beverages! The Point is a beer adventurer’s dream, currently revolving through over 50 beers in bottle and 10 on tap; an estimated 1,000+ beers have rotated through since the doors opened. Craft breweries and local hops peddlers are often featured, sometimes with reps sitting right next to you! Wine is available as well; sangria and micheladas are made behind the bar. Being indecisive is not problematic, the bartenders are very knowledgeable and can steer your palate. Texas-made sodas are also available and there’s even a place for your pets to get hydrated.

Second, the food! Over 175 different food trucks have parked at The Point in the past five years. The variety is wide; barbeque, cajun, international delectables, bakery items, and local flavors are just a few examples. Personal indulgences include carne guisada-laden french fries, outstanding Pho, a peanut butter and jelly burger and donuts crowned with Fruity Pebbles™. It is not uncommon for a new food purveyor to begin with a truck here and then move on to establish a brick and mortar restaurant.

Third, the activities! Kids enjoy the tiered playscape, basketball hoops, and video arcade games while adults can imbibe while perusing the artistic works inside or partaking in the Art-O-Matic, a nifty contraption which dispenses original art. It is one of only four in the country. Monthly events include featured pint nights, free yoga every second Saturday, movie viewing evenings, and specialty events such as Havana Night, featuring gose beer. Longevity is further rewarded with seasonal and annual happenings such as crawfish boils, a chili cook-off, the Burger Brawl, and Meat Week.
