According to an article that first appeared in “Food & Wine” magazine (so fingers crossed there’s an ounce of truth in this, so we can quickly lose the ounces based on the theory), two studies that were completed recently revealed that consuming wine before bedtime has the potential to encourage weight loss.
Scientists from Washington State University discovered that the polyphenol we know as resveratrol (found in red wine) can aid in the transformation of white fat into beige fat (which is something we can burn off). Additionally, a Harvard study discovered a link between weight loss and the consumption of wine – citing that research subjects who drank two glasses of wine per day were 70 percent less likely to be obese. This was based on a cross-section of 20,000 women over a period of 13 years.
