The plan to have a couple of drinks on the weekend is par for the course for many of us. We love our Texas craft beers, our wines, and yes, we love our whiskeys. But, what if there was an opportunity to make it more a line of work as opposed to merely a method of keeping us sane after work? Well, if you act before August 31, it easily can be.
The opportunity to make a living out of drinking whiskey (“whisky,” as it’s spelled for the job we’re about to wow you with) has now arrived. And no, this isn’t a dream. You can pinch yourself, but it’s not going to make any difference! Getting paid to drink and socialize the day away is now a job posting for a Scottish whiskey company, and we’ve got the low-down on how you can apply.

Grant’s, a Scottish whiskey company has recently announced that they have a new position now available. What’s the title? Global Drinks Ambassador. What does it entail? Oh, just traveling the world, going to events, meeting social people, and drinking whiskey! “Oh, I just hate drinking socially around the world and getting paid for it,” said no one. Ever.
To seize this opportunity, you’ll need to have an understanding of Grant’s, the company, AND you’ll need to employ your fantastic mixology and social media savvy to make it in the first round as an applicant. There are two rounds of interviews, and you’ll obviously need to wow the hiring team with your ability to socialize and network with people. But, to simply get your foot in the door, you need to mix a drink using Grant’s whiskey and post it on Instagram using the hashtag #GrantsInterview, both describing and, in a way, “selling” the drink. From all entries using this method, the company will select its top group of applicants. Through interviews, this will be narrowed down to 20 individuals who will move to the next phase… the “oh my gosh this is so hard but no it really seems like a vacation” phase! Ever had one of those for a job interview? No. We haven’t either. Read on!

These 20 people will then be taken to the Grant’s original distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. They will be provided with a two-night stay at a local hotel where they will then face a series of challenges. After all is said and done, three people will remain (kind of like “Survivor” but with whiskey, maybe? Your guess is as good as ours!) In October, one individual will be sent to Poland, India, and Israel; one will go to Colombia, South Africa, and the Nordics; the other will be sent to France, Russia, and Taiwan. While staying there, they will represent the company and its whiskey, organize events, and basically socialize to inform and sell the brand. In the process, they will be consuming the whiskey as well! Upon returning from their trips, the best candidate for the job will be selected and will become Grant’s new Global Drinks Ambassador. All those interested in this style of making a living, seeing the world, and selling whiskey in the process can apply here. A full listing of job requirements is also provided on the link, and applicants have until August 31 to make their dreams come true with Grant’s!
