Grandson Sends Pizza Delivery Man to Check on Grandma After Storm
Grandma Claire Olsen endured Hurricane Matthew, but her family had no idea whether or not she was ok. Since she lives on the coast between Jacksonville and Orlando, her family was on pins and needles waiting to hear from the 87-year-old grandma, but her call never came.
WFTV9 reports that in order to check on her, Olsen’s grandson called Flagler County, Florida’s only Papa Johns location from his home in Nebraska. Pizza delivery man Lance Tyler rose to the occasion and drove over to Olsen with her pizza in hand. After knocking on her door, Olsen told him she hadn’t ordered a pizza. Once Tyler explained the situation, he called her grandson’s number written in the special instructions section of the receipt.
“The way that he answered the phone, ‘Is she there? Is she OK?’ It sounded like he was worried,” Tyler told the news. Happily, Grandma Olsen was there to ease his mind and explain that her phone had been disconnected.
KXAN notes, “Tyler said that seeing her expression topped every tip he’s ever gotten.” Olsen says that the pizza was absolutely delicious, and her phone is now reconnected.
