Family members are meant to look out for each other and take care of their elders, but Helen and Hank Kawecki’s grandson doesn’t live by this message. Helen and Hank, both in their 80s, are losing their home of 56-years after their grandson swindled them.

When the couple needed a loan two years ago, their grandson decided to help and asked for the deed to the house. They didn’t know anything was wrong until their neighbor, Doug Emerson, told them that their house was being shown by realtors when their grandson took them out for the day.

Emerson did more sleuthing. He told Fox News that the grandson, “Took out a loan of $360,000 then he took out another loan for $65,000. Then, he went to another mortgage broker, packaged those and took out another loan for $47,400 and he didn’t make any payments on that. That started the foreclosure going.”

The elderly couple tearfully told the news that they couldn’t believe what their family member was doing to them. Once they confronted him, he disappeared from their lives.

Now that they’re facing an imminent eviction, a friend started a GoFundMe page to help Helen and Hank. Hank said, “I’m hoping something will happen that we can get it back. I don’t know how, but you never know. Maybe the man upstairs will help us out.”
