Gruene, pronounced “Green”, is located right outside of New Braunfels and 25 miles north of San Antonio. Tourists absolutely love the area because it is close to shopping, delicious restaurants, wine tasting, river recreation, dancing, and lodging. Gruene has been said to be the best spot for antique lovers, dining enthusiasts, river sport enthusiasts, hunters, and music lovers.
The town is known for the great history and is home to Gruene hall (the oldest dance hall in Texas). It is located at the intersection of Gruene Road and at the end of Hunter road. Several famous country singers and legends have performed at Gruene Hall. Some of these singers include Willie Nelson, George Strait, and Lyle Lovett. Visitors come from all around to visit the Grist Mill Restaurant, which overlooks the Guadalupe River. For Mexican food lovers, visit Adobe Verde for delicious, fresh food. Adobe Verde also offers live music and happy hour, which is served from 3:00-6:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Gruene, Texas is home to historic market days. These market days fall on every third weekend of the month, during the months of February until November. They are filled with over 100 handcrafted artisans and craftsman, whom are required to sell only the finest products and art in Texas. Christmas Markets, held every year on the first weekend of December, are home to the Town Lighting and Cowboy Kringle. Cowboy Kringle is Texas’ version of Santa.gruene
Some attractions right outside of Gruene, in New Braunfels, are the Natural Bridge Caverns, the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, and the Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort.
