Recently, USA Today held a poll concerning the best holiday parades in the country, and the results might surprise you. While many people would assume that the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade would lead the list, the New York parade actually came in 5th place. Besting the Macy’s Parade and coming in at number three was none other than Houston’s H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade.

According to KHOU, the Houston event brings tens of thousands of people to the downtown area to either buy limited seats for $28, or to line up along the route for free with folding chairs and blankets in tow. This year, two incredible Olympic athletes, Simone Biles and Simone Manuel, lead the parade as grand marshals. Massive balloons, floats, cheerleading groups, choirs, and dancers continued to audiences starting at 9:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

The USA Today list was compiled by “a panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote,” so the results are very positive for the H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade. If you want to attend next years festivities, plan on heading to downtown Houston on Thanksgiving, or watch online at or the live broadcast on KHOU 11.
