Heart of Texas Ranch: A Home Away From Home
Tucked away amongst the hills we love so much is a quiet retreat that offers so much more than a place to rest your head at night. Located just outside of Marble Falls, Heart of Texas Ranch offers a Hill Country vacation retreat that’s hard to match.

After owner Dale Fortenberry inherited the property from his parents, he decided to turn the enchanting 55-acre property, two large homes, and barn into a retreat where vacationers could bring their families or young couples could vow to spend the rest of their lives together. However, it wasn’t without reservation. Fortenberry lightheartedly told us “When I first got into [running the retreat], I was kind of scared because my homes are so huge! Who is going to rent a seven bedroom vacation rental?” It turns out, his idea was a hit with those wishing to take in the wonders of the Texas Hill Country with close friends and family around.

Heart of Texas Ranch offers an experience like no other. Fortenberry wasn’t exaggerating when he said his homes are huge. The Isaac Milsap House boasts a total of seven bedrooms – five full-sized bedrooms and two “pocket” rooms. This house easily sleeps up to 16 people. If that isn’t enough to peek your interest, the home features a large kitchen with an island, bar, and barstools, dining tables in two areas, and a large living area complete with a comfortable 16′ curved couch. However, we save the best for last when talking about this extraordinary vacation home. Taking in the views of the Hill Country is easy when you step out onto the 6,000 sq. ft. deck and wrap-around covered porch, both shaded by a towering grove of oak trees.

If you’re looking for something a bit more quaint, the Mary Millsap House sits just down the hill from the larger home. This charming vacation house features four bedrooms that are equally as comfortable as the Isaac Milsap house. Not only does this house offer beautiful, covered front and back porches, its newest amenity is the relaxing hot tub! Both houses feature a game room complete with a pool table, a BBQ grill, free WiFi, and DirectTV.

A vacation to the Texas Hill Country wouldn’t be complete without at least a sampling of the region’s famous wine. Fortenberry also operates the Heart of Texas Wine Tours. By far one of the best wine tours in the area, be ready to ride comfortably in one of the two buses available as it whisks you around the Hill Country to some of the best wineries and vineyards around.
A vacation at the Heart of Texas Ranch is perfect for anyone looking to get away. It offers a setting where families can come together for family reunions, Thanksgiving feasts, Christmas celebrations, and to kick off the New Year. Best of all, even Fido is allowed to join in on the fun. To book your stay, call (512) 755-0937 or visit Heart of Texas Ranch’s website.
